IAB Tech Lab, in partnership with IAB Europe, continues to advance and enhance the Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) to address the evolving expectations of users, regulators, and registered framework participants. The update to the Device Storage Duration & Access Disclosure will provide greater insight to users and participants on vendor’s use of cookies, domains and mobile SDKs. The Device Storage Duration & Access Disclosure Specifications are now open for public comment through December 1st, 2025.

Feedback can be submitted to support@iabtechlab.com. Outlined below are the changes included Device Storage Duration & Access Disclosure Specification. Vendors can now declare cookies and other storage mechanisms used in pursuit of non-TCF purposes (for example: global opt-out). This provides more transparency to the user and TCF participants on the cookies used by a participant.

The advertising technology ecosystem continues evolving to address privacy, measurement, and automation challenges facing the industry.

Vendors can now declare cookies and other storage mechanisms used for Special Purposes. This closes a gap we had in this specification in the declarations of purposes and special purposes.

Vendors must now declare the SDK package identifiers used in their mobile application SDKS. This will provide more transparency in the in-app environment for users and participants. Vendors are required to update their Device Storage Duration & Access Disclosure JSON file as soon as possible to comply with this change. Stay informed: IAB Europe will issue notifications and updates to CMPs and Vendors – these will also be shared via official channels Heinz Baumann Product/Engineering Consultant IAB Europe
